About Himgiri Girl Future Care Trust

Despite having a number of female luminaries and role models, the condition of girl child is far from being improved in India. Gender equality too is far from being achieved; the skewed sex ratio of 940 females per 1000 males bears witness to this fact.

In India, a girl child is often considered a liability and given the prevailing influence of male dominated system, right from their birth, a lot many girls bear the brunt of gender inequality, gender stereotypes and are treated inferiorly, as compared to boys.

It’s disturbing to note that in our society, still, many girls are deprived of schooling and kept at home and moreover, they get married off early too. This may be because the family fear their exploitation and abuse in the early age.

HIMGIRI GIRL FUTURE CARE TRUST is conceptualised with the thought of empowering the girl child, encourage families to have girl child and the society to be more sensitive and equal to girls. The focus of this trust is to support needy families help educate and raise girls as equal as boys. The support includes financial contribution in their education, health and even in their marriages. The trust also distributes books, bags and other required items to poor girl child as an assistance to poor families.

This trust firmly believe that the overall health, education and growth of the family, and that of the country too, lies in the health and education of the girl child. A society cannot make progress if it discriminates against the girl child and do not give them equal rights. Taking the commitment forward the trust aim to work in the area of health and nutrition of the girl child in future.
